Dentures

What are Dentures?

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and/or the surrounding tissues, which are custom-made to resemble your natural teeth. They can help enhance your smile, allow you to speak and eat with ease.

How Are Dentures Created?

We start the process by taking an initial impression of your arch, which will give us an imprint of your teeth in order to begin fabricating the custom denture. From there, we do several try-ins, starting with the wax try-in to make sure the denture fits you at every step of the way. Next is the teeth try-in, where we consider the shade and position of the teeth to make sure the denture fits well with your teeth structure. The final try-in allows you to approve the overall look and feel of the denture before we send it off to the lab for final cosmetic dentistry touches. Once these steps are complete, we deliver the denture, answer any final questions you may have, and give you instructions on proper care.

Differences Between Dentures and Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are appliances that use a small number of dental implants to support a full set of dentures. They support greater stability in the bone, which reduces the need for other procedures such as a bone graft. Implant-supported dentures also help to restore chewing function, allowing for a more varied and enjoyable diet. It takes three to six months for the bone tissue to fuse to the implants in a process called osseointegration.

Benefits of Dentures

Dentures restore the natural appearance of your smile, enhancing facial features. With dentures, you can regain the ability to chew and enjoy a diverse range of foods, promoting better nutrition. Many patients tell us their confidence gets a boost. Dentures also help prevent oral health issues by preventing the shifting of remaining teeth, maintaining proper alignment and preventing oral health issues.
